We’re continuing to invest in modernising our production facilities in Europe, boosting our ability to serve customers both more efficiently and more sustainably.

In October 2023, we celebrated the start of construction work on a new modern production unit at our Mannheim plant in Germany in a near €50 million investment.

This site is where we produce and distribute our Friatec branded range of products, serving customers globally, benefitting from an excellent transportation network close by.

We are considered a market leader in jointing technology used to bond plastic pipe systems for infrastructure, water and gas as well as future hydrogen projects in Germany.

It is particularly renowned for expertise in electrofusion, a technology for joining thermoplastic pipes. It uses a special fitting between pipes which are fused together when an electrical current is passed through the fitting’s electrical element making a reliable leak proof connection without the need for other materials such as adhesives.

The manufacturing expansion will see the addition of a new state-of-the-art, hi-tech production unit to the site, while also putting a strong emphasis on sustainability, including installing roof-top solar panels to deliver 80% of the plant’s electricity needs.

The expansion project is in two phases with a first production cell set to go into operation in July 2024 within an existing building and a brand-new unit going live by the end of the year.
