Our highly capable Research hubs in Paris, Bengaluru, and Toronto play a critical role in our efforts to collaborate with customers and strategic partners so that we can get great new innovations to market faster.

They work closely with our product development teams on the ground harnessing close connections with customers built up over many years to make sure we invent relevant solutions for the markets we serve.

And increasingly our hubs are working closely together to share insights and cross-fertilise ideas.

In 2023, we began an exchange programme between our Paris and Bengaluru hubs with scientists spending a few months working in each other’s labs to exchange ideas.

During the year they worked on a variety of projects including predicting the long-term mechanical durability of recycled materials in water and clean energy solutions. They also used chromatography to separate, identify and purify the components of a mixture for qualitative and quantitative analysis.

The links between our hubs and our businesses on the ground are also increasing. For example, our Bengaluru hub is collaborating with our brands in Australia and New Zealand to speed up the number of new solutions we are bringing to market in the Pacific region.

Both our French and Indian hubs have dedicated space set aside for customer collaboration and Toronto will follow suit when we move into a new, bigger, and more capable site in 2024.

The Bengaluru customer experience centre, for instance, allows customers to interact with our entire product range, both physically and digitally using online resources and virtual reality.
