We always look for ways to share the fruits of our success with the communities we serve, and this philosophy underpins the growing number of initiatives we have underway to upskill India’s plumbers of today and tomorrow.

The Ashirvad Plumbing School created in 2017 with a first school in Bengaluru, is aimed at young people wanting to join the construction industry, tackling both skills shortages in the sector and youth unemployment in the wider economy.

The project is going from strength to strength. We opened a second school in 2022 in Bhiwadi, northwest India, and have now won an award from the Water Management and Plumbing Skills Council, the leading industry skills organisation in India, recognising the success of the scheme.

The schools are continuing to see a growing throughput of aspiring young plumbers with many going on to get excellent work placements on completion of their studies to support their livelihood.

In 2023, a record 360 students underwent training, with all of them finding work or starting out on their own in self-employment.

We also run a Recognition of Prior Learning training scheme, offering working plumbers the chance to refresh their skills, learn new methods and techniques, and gain government certification – something that can open doors to new opportunities in our industry.

These important community projects are backed by a €1.6 million investment from our corporate social responsibility fund.
